We celebrated LIFE with a full house of 500 people at our first-ever Gala. What a wonderful night!
Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen and Lieutenant Governor Joe Kelly were joined by countless state senators and other dignitaries at the Gala. It was an inspiring and educational evening including a panel discussion on pro-life news and services featuring our own Sandy Danek of Nebraska Right to Life, Laura Buddenberg of Essential Pregnancy Services and Lisa McInerney of Sidewalk Advocates for Life. Keynote speaker Dr. John Bruchalski shared his inspiring story as a former abortion provider turned pro-life OB-GYN and founder of pro-life clinics. He felt encouraged to be in Nebraska, among such a large number of supporters of the pro-life movement!
We were honored to present two awards during this inaugural event. The Julie Schmit-Albin Leadership Award, named for the longtime leader of Nebraska Right to Life who passed away in 2020, was presented to State Auditor Mike Foley for his many years of advocacy for pro-life causes in the public square. The Light of Life Award was presented to Connie and Larry Consbruck of Hastings, for their years of dedicated service to South Central Nebraska Right to Life efforts.
Attendees left the evening feeling inspired and grateful to live in a post-Roe time, ready to work harder than ever to support women and the preborn. Nebraska truly is a pro-life state!
NRL Executive Director Sandy Danek: “Our nation has become stronger in its ability to protect the unborn because of the Dobbs v. Jackson decision that overturned Roe v. Wade. It is a victory for the many who have fought, prayed, sacrificed, marched and voted for almost 50 years. It’s now our mission to continue this battle here in Nebraska. The outpouring of support that came this past weekend from the first-ever Nebraska Walk for Life Gala and Walk gives us the strength for a new battle cry.”
